Fangio Ferrari sold for $28 million
The Ferrari 290 MM, built to contest in the World Sportscar Championship, was part of an RM Sotheby’s auction that included a Porsche owned by Janis Joplin and a Pontiac which belonged to Roy Rogers.
Only four 290 MMs were bult by the Italian company, one of them winning the Mille Miglia with Eugenio Castellotti at the wheel in 1956.
Fangio finished fourth in that event.
